TLM 1 - Setup
General notes
Room and equipment setup are crucial to a successful case.
As the surgeon, you must have everything ready and know how to use it
Work with Scrub tech to set up according to these pictures
Microscope
As part of your pre-surgery checklist, balance and arrange the microscope
Place the assistant's viewfinder to the right
Connect the Black Diamond HDMI cable to allow video monitoring and photos

Head drape - only contains the curved piece
Ice water in bucket with 4x4 inch gauze

Bed turned 90 degrees counter clockwise
Video monitors directly in front of the surgeon at eye level and off the left at the assistant's and scrub tech's eye level
Light box behind your left shoulder
Microscope behind your back and left
Laser behind your right shoulder
Laser Setting for glottis: 5W, 0.10s repeat accublade with micromanipulator
Laser Setting for Tongue Base: 20W continuous
Assistant stands / sits to the right of the surgeon, passing equipment as needed

Eye pads are no longer use; Simply cover the eyes with the moist blue towels
Head of bed
Zietels suspension laryngoscopy system at level of patient's ear on right side of head of bed
Zeitels system is not very intuitive. You may have trouble setting it up for the first time
Be careful with placement of light carrier with Zeitels laryngoscope. It can get very hot and may be close to the patient's face. Prolonged contact can cause burns.
