TLM 3 - Oropharynx, tongue base

Considerations

• 2016: Transoral Surgical Anatomy and Clinical Considerations of Lateral Oropharyngeal Wall, Parapharyngeal Space, and Tongue Base

Preparation

• • See TLM 1 - Setup for photos and instructions

• Smallest laser safe ETT that can be used

  • • ETT to left lower lip

• • Head on foam donut, no shoulder roll

  • Turn bed 90 degrees counter clockwise

  • Place thermasplint tooth guard

    • Heat in hot water to make malleable, place on teeth, cool with ice water gauze

  • Split sheet tucked under shoulders, head drape

  • Laser 

  • BOT (vs Tonsil) includes Hinni, +/- Bouchayer, longer laser handpiece
